A number of educational programmes at HSE University combine subject training with the in-depth study of computer science and complex digital tools and services. One such undergraduate programme is Computational Social Sciences (CSS), which first-year students enrolled in Psychology, Public Administration, Political Science, or Sociology can switch to. In this interview, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Daria Prisyazhniuk and the programme’s Academic Supervisor Evgeny Sedashov explain the programme’s content and how to enrol.

On November 22, the atrium of the HSE building on Pokrovsky Boulevard hosted the traditional Career Marathon organised by the Career Development Centre. The main objective of the event was to introduce HSE students to potential employers—companies and their representatives. At the poster session, the university’s students had the opportunity to network with employees of major Russian banks, marketplaces, financial institutions, and IT integrators, gaining valuable first-hand information.

Employment rates for ICEF alumni in 2023 remain consistently high. Just a month after graduating from the International Bachelor’s Programme in Economics and Finance, 93% of graduates confirmed to the ICEF Career Centre that they had received job offers or decided to continue their studies in Russia and abroad in master’s and PhD programmes. Viktoria Pralich, Head of the Career Centre, talks about the employment and continued education of this year’s alumni.

In the 2023/24 academic year, the Bachelor’s programme in Software Engineering at HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science has a new academic supervisor. Nikolay Pavlochev has experience in successfully implementing initiatives for the development of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). At Acronis, a company working in the field of backup and data recovery protection systems, he has worked with leading technical universities in Singapore, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, and the USA. The work by Sofia Fedotova, 4th-year student of the Bachelor's track 'Communication Design' at HSE Campus in St Petersburg, has made it to the final of the MAX3MIN 'very short' film festival in Italy.
